Back To Normal Life!!!

For those of you who know me, moving back to Indiana has been a huge blessing and a long awaited dream come true. After living all over the US, we finally made the move back to Indiana a little over a year ago. My hubby transferred with the same company he had been working for in Minnesota and it seemed to be to good to be true. The trade off was that my awesome husband would have to work second shift. For some this would have been no problem and I think I convinced myself it was no big deal as best I could. (Which is a huge lie, I hated it from the start!!) But we knew it was temporary (we hoped, another lie) and we were so excited to move. So, for the past year, we have done the best we could to get by and made the sacrifices we had to make. Its been hard and I won't lie about that!! I know my sweet husband has truly suffered with me and my tear filled eyes and my frustration. He is a real trooper and the fact that he is so laid back and so easy going made this past year easier for him than for me!! And, after a very long year of waking up at 1am when he would get home, weeknight dinners alone and boring Friday nights...HE IS ON THE DAY SHIFT!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!! I couldn't be more excited and more proud of him!! He deserves it and I am beyond thrilled that I will have him home in the evenings again!! Normal life will hopefully return!! Whatever normal means!
I want to thank my husband for being so amazing, not just over the past year, but in general! I honestly don't know what I would do without him! As our 5 year anniversary is approaching, I can't help but look back on our lives together and just smile. He brings so much joy and happiness to my life and I can't thank him enough! I am very blessed and very grateful!!!

Two New Finds...

Pictures from WhiteFlower Farmhouse

I love to read blogs that are written by designers. They give me inspiration and hope that someday my blog can be as fabulous as their blogs are!! I love when I read a blog and find a new website or blog to add to my daily list. But what I really love is when I stumble upon a blog that introduces me to a new product or online boutique. Which just happened today! While reading http://nestingplacenc.blogspot.com/ I came across a website that makes me smile and squeal with delight!! (Yes, I still squeal with delight even at 31 years old!) For anyone who knows me, you know that I obsess over things that are distressed and old and have been brought back to life with lots of love and care. Here is the website http://whiteflowerfarmhouse.com/index.html You must visit it and tell me what you think. Honestly, it just makes me so happy, I can't even contain myself right now. I am jumping up and down as I type!

Another great find on the Nesting Place blog was not interior design related, but is just something that I really thought looked interesting and I think I need to buy http://www.maggiewhitley.com/Home_Page.html. I think her stuff is so creative and fun and makes me want to pull my sewing machine out of the closet and kick that layer of dust off of it. Or, maybe just pull out my wallet and a credit card and place an order (depends on how ambitious I am). Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of my new finds.

Orange You Glad...

I am liking this whole orange craze that is going on. Orange is a color that when used correctly, really works and adds an element of "funk". It actually goes with many colors like brown and green. However, I would suggest using it in smaller doses like accessories or a single chair. While it is a fabulous color, it can be a bit overwhelming. Fall is a great time to stock up on some funky orange finds!!

Fall Decor, Less is More!!

First off, I hope that I do not upset any of you that have already decked out your homes in orange and black for Halloween. I admit, I am not a huge fan of Halloween. It started when I was about 6 or 7 maybe and I was in the back seat of my moms car coming homen from trick or treating with a bag full of yummy candy. All of the sudden, some boys decided to play a trick on us and started to throw eggs at our car. I was beyond horrified and my mom pulled the car over and ranted off a few choice words for these boys. It was that Halloween that I started to dread the holiday. Don't get me wrong, I love the candy and I am always up for dressing up and pretending to be someone else for a night, but the actual celebration of this holiday does not do much for me.

On the other hand, I LOVE FALL!!!! This is my absolute favorite season. I love the weather, sweaters, hot chocolate, mums, and of course, my wedding anniversary falls in this season! But what I really love about fall are the colors. I love incorporating deep reds, oranges, yellows and rich browns into my existing decor. A little splash here and there is enough to really add some drama to a room and transform it from summer to fall. You can add some gourds and pumpkins to for a little texture and dimension. I like to add fall berries to table pieces, it is subtle but still gives that fall feeling.

When decorating for fall, I think less is more. While it is fun to have that scary hand that talks in the candy bowl, it isn't the most chic way to decorate your table. A few simple touches here and there are more than enough to show your support and love of the season.

A Charming Little Room

I recently stumbled across a new blog (well, new for me, maybe not for you!) http://littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com/. Check it out if you haven't yet. Jenny is an amazing designer and has used her skills to design a room for her daughters. The room is grown up but still very whimsical. It will transition well as her daughters grow. I love her use of "grown up" fabrics on the head boards...so chic! The colors in the accessories are amazing, so bright and vivid. Looks like a lot of sweat, tears and love went into making this space special!!

I'm Still Here!!

Hello to all my blog readers!! Do you remember me? I'm Meredith, I write a little blog and try to guide people in the right design direction. I apologize for my absence over the past month or so. This has been a really difficult and dark time in my life and I absolutely needed some time to rest and relax and be with my hubby and family. But I am feeling better now and will be returning to the world of blogging. I can't say I have too much to discuss today, but I just wanted to let you know I am still here! Still designing and still blogging!! As soon as I am completely back on my feet, I will grace you with my pearls of wisdom once again!!
